  Food was very good, service/servers weren't that great. Seated ourselves, nobody came to table. We waited 15 minutes, nobody came. So, we got up and sat in the bar area, 2 waitresses drinking beer with a kitchen worker talking. Didn't seemed thrilled that we were in to get food.

  It's possible the food at Dick's Restaurant is okay, but I wouldn't know. The service was so bad we walked out. Here's the full story:
  
  We walked in and stood for a good 4-5 minutes before anyone showed up at the hostess station. Then she shuffled through things on the hostess station for a minute or two before even looking up to say hi. The main dining room was mostly empty, but it still took them a few more minutes to "find" us one of the several booths that were open.
  
  I was wondering why the waitress was just chatting with the people in the next booth while we sat unattended for 5-10 minutes, when another waitress came to our table. My iced tea arrived promptly, along with a basket of bread and plenty of butter -- but no bread plates, nor any knife to spread butter with. We ordered -- a burger for my husband, a main dish salad for me.
  
  Despite there being all of 4 tables taken in the main dining room -- included ours and another booth with only two people -- that was the last we saw of our waitress. 20-25 minutes later, we threw down $3 to cover my iced tea and walked out, telling one of the other two waitresses -- yes, three waitresses for 4 tables of guests, and the service still sucked -- that we had no idea why a burger and a salad were taking so long.
  
  To be fair, there appeared to be a private function going on in another room. Still, the dining room was very slow, and all we ordered was a burger and a salad. And, frankly, if they can't handle a party plus four tables at the dinner hour, they need to be in another business. If the waitress had even come by to refill my iced tea and apologize for the wait, we might have stuck around.
  
  I have no idea how Dick's Restaurant stays in business.

  Um, no.
  
  We get outside the south edge of the Greater Chicago Area before we decide to stop for dinner. Walk in with my wife. Nobody in front other than the "please wait to be seated" sign. Wait. Wife goes to the bathroom. Hostess (I think?) comes out, spends a couple minutes fussing with stuff on the station. Not a word, doesn't seem to even notice me. Just the two of us in the room. Chickie finally looks up.
  
  I ask, "Table for two?" Wife comes out of the bathroom. Hostess goes off with a spray bottle, comes back, and seats us. Few minutes later, server comes with water and to ask for drink orders. I'm fine with water, wife gets iced tea. Server brings bread and butter, no utensils. Server takes our order. And then.......... Nothing. For twenty-five minutes.
  
  We toss three bucks on the table for the tea, and head south.
